A villa “Koci zamek” (“Cat’s castle”) in Bochnia

The villa was raised in 1895 by a county doctor Mieczysław Dembowski on the base of Teodor Talowski’s (the precursor of Neo-romanticism in the Polish architecture) design and belongs to his most interesting creations. Particulary interesting is a front wing adorned with a stone cat’s head which gave the villa its common name “cat’s castle”. The stone details were made in a local artistic sculpture workshop belonging to Wojciech Samek. Presently, the villa is a seat of the Bochnia department of the Record Office in Cracow.
